Yes, I was raised with the feeling that love is conditional. I think I still have trouble GIVING unconditional love because that feeling was mostly foreign to me.

Embarrassed As A Witness
by EmptyInside ineven as a witness,i was uncomfortable talking about everything we believed.
i remember working with my brother out and service and he found an interested person.

Raised from birth as a JW, never baptized, faded out. My parents did not try to stop me. But we never really talked about it. Very confusing childhood and adolescence.

I really relate to this whole thread. I remember being embarrassed to be a JW as early as 6 years old. I was deeply embarrassed the whole rest of my childhood and even after I no longer considered myself a JW I felt a great deal of shame for probably at least 5 years. Just the fact that I had been raised in this religion and my family was still attending meetings was excruciating to me and I felt isolated. To be honest, I am still embarrassed and there are only 3 adults that I have ever told that I was raised as a JW with one of them being my husband.

wobble, I'm curious about the same thing. They used to come through out neighborhood about every month or 2 and not just on the weekends. Most of the time it was on a weekday. But I'v e seen no sign of them in about 4 years until today. Does anybody have any ideas?

Where would you like to dine in Las Vegas

what would you recommend for dining and why?.

I was in Las Vegas in April for the first time. We could not find any "cheap" places to eat. But maybe we just didn't know where to go. We stayed at the Flamingo and went to a show at MGM. We did not find any "cheap" places to eat at either of those hotels. We ate one night at an Italian restaurant fairly close to the Flamingo. It was off the strip. The prices were double what we would pay for comparable food here in suburban Atlanta. It was OK food. The other night we ate at In & Out Burger. We just didn't feel like spending $150-$200 for dinner. We had other things we wanted to do on our trip out west.

Don't make the same mistake I did
by Terry inin 1974 i had moved to california from texas and my nowhere jw janitor job to a real career in a field i loved.
(art).
i had packed my jw wife and 3 kids in my 1970 ford maverick and drove into the unknown.. mind you, this was on the very eve of a very "important date in human history".

I've got to agree with you, wobble. The people that are just going through the motions of being a JW are wasting their lives and many times the lives of their children also.

I would not let any JW relative of mine babysit my kids on a regular basis. Of course, she is trying to indoctrinate him. She feels that is her duty. The job of teaching your child about God and religious things is your and your wife's. Your son is old enough to begin understanding these things AND to be negatively influenced by the JW teachings.
